The New Kent is a Blackpool B&B Hotel set in the Quieter North Shore of Blackpool and is fast becoming renowned as:
“A B&B that’s big enough to cope and small enough to care.”

Blackpool Hotels in Blackpool!
Due to the current economical situation the UK seems to be in at present we the Blackpool hotelier would like to welcome back guests who may have chose to travel abroad in the past, the Blackpool connoisseur and those who may never have experienced the wonderful offerings of Blackpool before.
To fully appreciate and explore the wonders of Blackpool one must come and stay for several days. The Day trippers rush in and rush out and I am sure that their day is amazing also however Blackpool is a place to relax, stroll and actual take time to admire the offers and fully digest what we have in the town. Sitting by the sea watching the seagulls swoop down as the tide goes out or chat the fishermen who frequent the shore line daily when the tide is in.
The Beach in Blackpool is a mere 150 metres from the front door of the New Kent B&B hotel and with an invigorating breeze that comes from the sea straight to our front door I must ask “Is there a more pleasant place for me to live?” Or for you to stay? Well possibly as Blackpool is a fantastic place for all the family and whether it is for the quiet of the North Shore, the noise, partying and excitement of the South and Central shores of Blackpool there is definitely something for all.
Golden Sands await you all....
Although it is stated that the Blackpool Illuminations only stretch for 6 miles along the promenade Blackpool beach covers around 9 to 10 miles of the coast line which many consider to be Blackpool albeit this includes Blackpool, Lytham, Bispham and Cleveleys leading up to Fleetwood.
Taking a stroll, a leisurely walk and even something a little more energetic like running or cycling the Beack in Blackpool attracts them all.

As a Hotel in Blackpool the New Kent B&B Hotel was built in 1919 although the deeds say that the land that our hotel was eventually built on was acquired back in 1893. So why was there a 26 year wait until completion? I am still trying to find out why however people back in the late 1800′s first purchased land from the council as an investment before any building took place.
Back in the day when Blackpool was seen as the place to be and rich people throughout the UK sort land and property companies did not produce lots and mass produce housing. The richer people of the UK bought land from the council and built there own homes and due to this I would say Blackpool has some of the most sturdy and well built houses throughout the UK.
The New Kent B&B Hotel was an actual purpose built Guest house and has never been used just as a family home. The property has developed over the years however all rooms are now en-suite except room one. (A smaller double bed in a box room)

Last year we welcomed Maria and Michael Carkagris to our modest B&B hotel here in Blackpool on day 94 of their “2009 -a year on the road” where they are meeting new friends, seeing new places and experiencing life!
Maria and Michael’s website title ‘2009 a year on the road‘ has a day to day blog listing of their travels and gives up to the minute (almost) information on where they have, what they have seen and write ups on some fantastic places throughout the UK.
The web blog from Maria and Michael “details the first of the big trips – a year on the road in Europe to celebrate the best of everything at this wonderful time in our lives.” As with twitter join there blog and gain daily updates (hope our review after breakfast tomorrow is a good one?)
We at the New Kent B&B Hotel in Blackpool would like to welcome Maria & Michael in to our B&B and home and hope that the fours and nights they will spend with us will be relaxing, enjoyable and as adventurous as the places I have just read about on their blog.
Maria & Michael
As I write Michael is off watching the beautiful Blackpool sunset and as I have witnessed many times every day is magnificent and always different. A site many people suggest they “never get tired of seeing.”
On Saturday 21st March and Michael and Maria departed, a quite a sad moment as we made some real friends. Maria and I shared a couple of bottles of fine red wine last night whilst we had a game of Scrabble and to rub it in I won scoring 210 points!
The Aussie Globetrotters are possibly far away from Blackpool now and enjoying the beautiful sights of the Lake District and we at the New Kent B&B Hotel in Blackpool are possibly a mere distant and fond memory.
I would just like to wish you guys all the very best for the future and hope you find some time to come and visit us again on your way back to the south of England.
The “Credit Crunch Crisis” has now started to hit us all in some way shape or form and to ensure that our guests are able to continue to benefit from our Blackpool Hotel we have slashed prices EVERYWHERE!

The George Formby Society congregates in Blackpool four times a year in remembrance of a British Icon of yester- year and a man who sang cheeky songs while playing his Ukulele, looking boyish, mischievous and unfazed. A Lancashire Lad born and bred George was a Black and White TV star who wowed millions across the world. George himself played Blackpool and below is his song “With me little Stick of Blackpool Rock.”

I personally remember watching George Formby films with my Nanny Smith when I was a small boy as I think he was one of the biggest stars during my Nanny Smith’s younger days. My favorite song is “When I am cleaning windows” which always brings back memories I have of my childhood and of my Mothers Mum me Nan.
The New Kent Blackpool would be delighted to be the hosts of any George Formby conference goers and welcome anybody who can play a Ukulele.

Chris lowe was born and raised in Blackpool before going on to conquer the world with Neil Tennant as one of the pop duo “The Pet Shop Boys.” To say the Pet Shop Boys are idols of mine is an understatement indeed, as a teenager I grew up listen to their music and dreaming of following in their foot steps to fame and fortune.
To see them perform at the Brits and receive an award was a fantastic and nerve tingling experience that not many pop groups or bands have on me these days. Performing with Brandon Flowers (The Killers) and Lady GaGa it was quite a performance to remember!
Please view their performance below and if you do not have a CD of them in your car ‘Go get one?’
Chris in his act reminisces about his up bringing in Blackpool which I do feel shows his respect and love of his home town a town that he describes like himself “Fun loving and exciting.”

The Blackpool Illuminations 2010 will be switched on September 3rd and will run until November 7th.
Blackpool’s Illuminations are switched on annually at the start of September and continue, nightly, until the first week of November. The illuminations consist of many a glowing tableau, large illuminated models, and laser lights. Fibre optics and computer control have brought a new dimension to Britain’s biggest tourist attraction. The illuminated displays stretch along the sea front from Starr Gate to Bispham. The sea front is lit up like a Belicia beacon with the view of the lights being an array of colours that can be seen afar.
View from the Beach during the Illumination
Blackpool has a wonderful International firework display every year that has attracted some fierce competition from numerous international competitors. The International firework display takes place on the first weeks of the Illuminations so to book early as rooms get snapped up very quickly.

Blackpool hotels vary in many ways, from the small family owned Bed and Breakfast (B&B) guest house to the more commercially conglomerate run hotels like the Hilton Hotel and travel lodges that are springing up every where.
So how does one choose whether to stay in a B&B or a more commercial establishment? Blackpool has been built its reputation on a warm friendly welcome, traditional home cooked cuisine from people who actually own and operate the B&B hotels themselves. This I do believe gives the Blackpool B&B hotelier a massive advantage over any commercially run business, it is more personal and satisfying.
Our Blackpool B&B Hotel versus a Travel lodge?
There are many advantages in staying in our hotel or other local B&B’s in the North Shore rather than any sort of travel lodge or travel Inn. Not all hotels are the same however we feel our Blackpool Hotel out performs a travel lodge or Inn by the following reasons:
Hospitality
Warmth
Friendliness
Cleanliness
A fresh and hearty breakfast (included in the room rate)
A more welcoming price that is definitely Value for money
FREE Internet access
How do we know we are offering our service far better than a Globalized Conglomerate are able? Well it is not everyday you will see the owner of the company (ME) being supervised by the MD’s (my mother and wife!). One can not say that about any conglomerate that I have ever known….
Our rooms are clean, fresh, compact (you could not really have a game of football with your mate using our pillows) and they are very homely and relaxing.

Our Blackpool hotel is situated in the North shore of Blackpool with it’s breath taking panoramic views of the coast and Lake district in the far distance provides a fantastic place for families, couples and romantics. Stroll the promenade from Gynn Square the start of the North Shore until Cleveleys without the hustle and bustle of the Stag and Hen culture that has swept through Blackpool over the years.
North Shore Promenade Blackpool
Our hotel in the North Shore of Blackpool offers a warm welcome to all people who wish to take it easy, relax and enjoy the tranquility of such breath taking scenery. On a really clear day it has been said you can see the Isle of Man in the far distance and on many occasions you can see the wind turbines which are several miles off shore.
Travel the length of the North Shore by Tram
One suggestion I give many if not all my guests is walk the beautiful coast line until you are tired and then travel back in comfort and style on one of the trams that are as frequent as every 20 minutes in the summer season.
To book with us please call: 01253 352 741 to reserve your room.
